Lush green lawns and a gentle breeze, just the right amount of sunshine. Kids run freely across the grass, while adults lounge comfortably on patches of turf, soaking up the sun. Jogging, cycling, ball games, picnics — a variety of leisure activities naturally take place in every corner of this vast park.

Munich Olympic Park (Olympiapark München), built in 1968 and completed in 1972, is a green oasis in this densely populated city. It has had a profound impact on Munich and has become an indispensable part of the lives of its residents.

The entire Olympic Park consists of 33 sports venues, including the 85,000-square-meter Olympic Stadium, a swimming pool that can accommodate 9,000 people, a multi-purpose arena with 14,000 seats, a velodrome with 5,000 seats, an ice hockey rink with 10,200 seats, and a boxing arena with 7,200 seats. Additionally, there is an outdoor water sports lake, as well as the athletes' village and television tower.

The Olympic Stadium is the centerpiece of the park. Due to its relatively high latitude, the football pitch is equipped with under-soil heating systems to ensure lush green grass all year round, allowing 80,000 spectators to enjoy thrilling football matches even in the cold winter.

The Olympic Tower is the most prominent structure in the park. Standing at 291 meters tall, it features an observation deck and a Rock Museum at 190 meters, as well as a revolving restaurant at 182 meters. Beyond sightseeing, the Olympic Tower also serves as a radio relay station.
