Tsing Ma Bridge(English:Tsing Ma Bridge) is the world's longest suspension bridge that carries both road and rail traffic, as well as the ninth longest suspension bridge globally. The main span of the bridge is 1,377 meters long, and the total length including approach roads is 2,160 meters. It is part of Hong Kong's Route 8, the Lantau Link, spanning the Ma Wan Channel to connect Tsing Yi and Ma Wan. The Tsing Ma Bridge is a vital part of Hong Kong’s road network, as together with the Kap Shui Mun Bridge, it forms the only road link between Lantau Island, Hong Kong International Airport at Chek Lap Kok, and the urban areas. Photographing the Tsing Ma Bridge has always been one of the key subjects in Hong Kong’s landscape and architectural photography. Its winding connecting roads add rich detail to the images, while the constant flow of road traffic leaves striking red and white tracks on the pavement—truly captivating...
At the same time, the Tsing Ma Bridge is also one of the best spots for sunset photography. It directly faces west, but due to seasonal variations in the sun’s setting position, each season offers a uniquely beautiful sunset. I remember a few years ago when I went there with a friend to shoot, the haze was thick—it turned out to be a wasted trip...
During the day, the Tsing Ma Bridge stands majestically and is breathtakingly beautiful. Just admiring it is enough to make my heart tremble. As one of Hong Kong’s major transport hubs, it carries numerous goods daily via land routes to the Hong Kong International Airport for air freight. From my previous work experience, I have some understanding of air cargo logistics. Trucks generally need to deliver goods to airlines for cargo loading several hours in advance to catch the late-night or early-morning freighter flights. Therefore, any accident on the Tsing Ma Bridge or its connecting roads could lead to unimaginable consequences...
During the spring equinox, when sea fog is prevalent, the Tsing Ma Bridge resembles San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge swallowed by mist—an awe-inspiring sight. In the foggy environment, you can constantly hear loud horn signals coming from the sea, all seemingly originating from the direction of the Tsing Ma Bridge, creating an illusion as if you’re drifting on a buoy in the ocean...
After sunset, the Tsing Ma Bridge lights up with its own glow, creating a very romantic scene. When shooting, use a smaller aperture and the bulbs on the cables will turn into strings of stars—absolutely enchanting...
Photographers can also get creative by applying various techniques to craft a dreamlike image of the Tsing Ma Bridge, capturing satisfying shots without any post-processing...
On a clear night, you can even capture star trail images with the Tsing Ma Bridge as the foreground. I discovered the sky clearing after shooting the sunset that day, so I decided to stay and take star trail photos...

I really love the Tsing Ma Bridge. Because of my past work, travels, and visits to Lantau’s Butterfly Valley, I’ve crossed the Tsing Ma Bridge many times. I personally believe it is one of Hong Kong’s greatest public structures, as it serves all citizens—whether you’re driving or taking public transport to Lantau, you’ll pass over our fellow Hongkongers’ Tsing Ma Bridge.
