The path of Pabuk affects Vietnam, currently located 530 kilometers south of Ho Chi Minh City over the sea. It has no direct impact on Taiwan, but the associated cloud system is bringing abundant moisture. Heavy rain warnings are in effect for New Taipei, Keelung, and Yilan, while a heavy rain advisory is in place for Taipei.

On January 2, affected by the northeast monsoon and the northward movement of southern cloud systems, the weather across the island is wet and cool. The northeastern part of Taiwan and the mountainous areas of Greater Taipei have a chance of rain, including localized heavy rain or downpours. The northern and eastern regions will see brief showers, while other areas, as well as Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu, may also experience localized brief showers.
On the 2nd, temperatures north of Miaoli are around 15°C, central Taiwan around 17°C, southern Taiwan around 20°C, and the eastern half of the island around 18°C.
The weather patterns on the 2nd and 3rd are similar, gradually becoming rain-free in the afternoon and evening. By Friday, the weather across Taiwan will be clearer with rising temperatures. Only some northern counties and cities may see brief nighttime rain on Saturday, while Sunday brings rainy conditions back to the northeastern part of the island. Travelers should pay close attention to weather changes.
