Travel and photography are inseparably linked. We believe photography allows the world to better understand us and helps us gain a deeper understanding of the world. The recent surge in travel has also sparked a wave of interest in photography. By combining travel and photography, we can broaden our horizons, exchange ideas, and explore the world without leaving home – a lens can take us on a journey around the globe. This year, we will be setting up an exhibition titled “Star Photographers’ Route Recommendations” and hosting two lectures at the 2017 Hong Kong International Travel Expo. We hope to showcase outstanding works by talented photographers and travel enthusiasts from Hong Kong, and let you feel their passion for photography and travel.
The International Travel Expo is an annual highlight, and this year it will once again be held at the Wan Chai Convention and Exhibition Centre, Halls 1A-1E.
Lecture 1: Travel with Sammy: Hidden Gems of Kagoshima
Located in southern Kyushu, Japan, Kagoshima boasts abundant natural resources, unforgettable hot springs and sand baths, mysterious rocket launch sites on Tanegashima Island, and healing journeys to the high mountains of Yakushima – all worth exploring for travel enthusiasts. This time, we’ve invited popular travel writer Sammy to introduce the hidden gems of Kagoshima and share his unique travel experiences.

Sammy, Editor-in-Chief of Travel Bag, has been passionate about Japan since childhood. Over the past eight years, he has traveled to major cities across Japan and has published more than 10 Japanese travel guides, including “Kyushu Private Road Trips: Must-visit Attractions, Local Cuisine, Unique Hot Springs, and Scenic Train Journeys – A Selection of Itineraries for In-depth Exploration” and “Japan Private Road Trips: Sammy’s Pleasant Strolls in Japan,” among others. His articles have also appeared on various online media platforms.
Lecture 2: Travel Photography in Finland
Finland, a dream destination in Northern Europe, is world-renowned for its location within the Arctic Circle, making it an ideal place to witness the Northern Lights. But what else makes Finland so captivating through the lens of a photographer? This time, we’ve invited Henry, founder of “Travel.Photography,” to share his perspective on Finland and his travel experiences.

Henry Lo, a native Hong Konger and founder of the “Travel.Photography” page, is passionate about both travel and photography. Having visited all seven continents and traveled to approximately 60 countries and over 250 cities, he excels at using imagery to document the touching stories he discovers on his journeys. His page currently has over 90,000 followers.
Meanwhile, this year we will also be showcasing an exhibition titled “Star Photographers’ Route Recommendations” at the 2017 Hong Kong International Travel Expo. The exhibition will feature five photography routes, including Iran, Iceland, Kyushu (Japan), South Korea, and Antarctica. The exhibition will be set up outside Lecture Theatre D, and we welcome everyone to come and show your support.
