The rose garden in Shilin Official Residence Park is planted with a group of mature plum trees, which are now in bud and especially fitting for the season. Strolling along the plum blossom path, you can enjoy the serene scenery and breathe in the fragrant aroma of the blossoms.
The plum tree is a deciduous tree of the genus Prunus in the Rosaceae family. Plum trees are about 4 to 10 meters tall, with spreading crowns and trunks that are brownish-purple or light gray. The flowering period is in winter and early spring. The flowers have five petals, with diameters of 1–3 cm, and come in colors such as white, rose red, and deep red. Cold winter temperatures and humid, chilly weather conditions are even more conducive to the blooming of plum blossoms, symbolizing their resilient spirit, like a snow-like beautiful sight.
Currently, about 20–30% of the plum trees in Shilin Official Residence Park have bloomed. The best viewing period is expected to be this weekend. The plum blossom season is very short, so visitors are reminded to plan their trips early to catch the peak bloom.
