Tsukiji Market(Japanese:Tsukiji Market/Tsukiji Shijō Tsukiji
shijō) is a public wholesale market located in Tsukiji, Chūō Ward, Tokyo, Japan. It is one of the 11 central wholesale markets operated by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and is the largestfish marketin Japan.
The market is situated near Tsukiji Station on the Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line and Tsukiji Market Station on the Toei Ōedo Line. The overall market consists of two distinct parts: in the narrow sense, Tsukiji Market refers only to the wholesale area, also known as the “Inner Market” (Inner Market/Jōnai Shijō Jōnai
shijō ), where around seven licensed wholesale dealers and approximately 1,000 licensednakaoroshi(mid-tier wholesalers) conduct auctions for fish and produce. This area covers about 230,000 square meters. In the broader sense, it includes the traditional market located adjacent to (northeast of) the wholesale market, known as theTsukiji Outer Market Shopping Street(Tsukiji Outer Market Shopping Street/Tsukiji Jōgai Shijō Shotengai Tshkiji jōnai shijō shōtengai), commonly referred to as the “Outer Market” (Outer Market/Jōgai Shijō Jōgai
shijō ) or simply the “Outer.” It comprises small wholesale and retail shops selling kitchenware, restaurant supplies, groceries, and seafood, as well as numerous restaurants, especially sushi shops. (Source: Wikipedia)
Tsukiji Market is easily accessible and has become a popular destination for both domestic and international tourists seeking delicious food. Beyond enjoying the cuisine, visitors can also experience the local culture and historical background, observe daily life, and witness the non-stop hustle and bustle. Every shop and eatery takes great pride in preparing their dishes and goods, which is one of the deepest impressions I have of the Japanese people...
Standing dining culture is very common at Tsukiji Market. While tourists might prefer to sit down in a proper restaurant, for the busy and fast-paced Japanese, “standing meals” (tachigui) offer one of the quickest ways to fill up before heading back to work...
I believe many who have visited Tsukiji Market would have seen numerous small and large eateries serving sashimi along the way...<的食店,单看相片已经非常吸引,奈何我们只有一个胃,心大心细下就想找一家最好的坐下来享受一番...
There are several shops selling "tamago skewers" at Tsukiji Market, but the most popular might be the tamagoyaki from "Tsukiji Yamachou" at the corner. Each skewer costs just 100 YEN, with a soft and smooth texture. If you love tamagoyaki, have you tried this one yet? And yes, you’ll need to queue even in the busy hours....XDXD
Eating while walking is a must-do for us tourists. While tuna sashimi is common, grilled tuna skewers also have their own charm—just 500 YEN per skewer...
If you’re a fan of grilled eel, this place might satisfy your cravings.
If you’re a big eater and want to experience Japanese breakfast with onigiri (rice balls), this place will definitely fill you up. Each rice ball is as big as a fist T?笱剑〖br />
This shop also offers ready-to-eat sea urchin and oysters at reasonable prices—you’ll really want to eat them when you see them!
Scallop... scallop... scallop... scallop... Grandma, I’m so confused now!!
I only learned the difference between the two through a TV show. The delicious-looking grilled one in the picture is a scallop (fan-shaped shell, round meat column), while the scallop has a long triangular shell with an oval meat column. If you want to know more, quickly follow Grandma to the market...
At Tsukiji Market, with so many eateries, it’s easy to satisfy your craving for toro sushi. I Q?褪稚嫌心米乓缓型下奘偎玖水..XP
I developed a love for sushi in Japan thanks to a manga—Kaiji no Sushi
, which was also adapted into a TV drama. The story follows Kaiji’s journey from apprentice to sushi master, his respect for tools and ingredients, how he prepares tamagoyaki, his knife skills, etc. This manga fueled my admiration for sushi. Sadly, it’s hard to find that flavor in Hong Kong, but during my visit to Tsukiji, I finally found that taste at the larger chain-operated "Sushi Dai" (Kihachiro Sushi Honten). One night, by chance, I had a late-night meal there and sat right in front of Chef Yamashita. Naturally, I ordered my favorite tuna toro sushi. Watching him meticulously prepare sushi for our family, I felt this deep urge to savor that flavor. The sushi was delicious and full of heart. Though my Japanese is worse than limited, using body language and my terrible Japanese didn’t stop me from chatting with him. But I couldn’t eat much more that night. The next evening, I decided to dine there again. As soon as I entered, I saw Chef Yamashita, who immediately greeted us. Whether by fate or arrangement, I ended up sitting in front of him again and, of course, tried the sashimi N I hadn’t had the previous day.<和其他寿司,还有我最想吃的穴子寿司啦,坐在山下先山前吃寿司,让大家放下客人的身份位置,而是朋友,即使我们只认识了很短暂的时光,感谢他,他弄的寿司是让我最回味的。
That night’s experience was live-streamed on Facebook...^^

Epilogue:
Tsukiji Outer Market has a variety of shops and eateries, bustling with tourists daily. Some stores sell local specialties that make great souvenirs—more unique and thoughtful than traditional wagashi bought at the airport, allowing friends in Hong Kong to taste local flavors.
