Taiwan McDonald’s recently officially announced that by the end of March, four major electronic payment cards — including the EasyCard, iPass, icash, and HappyCash — will be accepted at all McDonald’s restaurants across Taiwan. Simply tap your electronic payment card to buy burgers and fries, ushering in a full era of electronic payments.

Large retail stores in Taiwan now almost all offer mobile payment services, and diverse payment methods have become a trend. Observing this shift, McDonald’s began collaborating with the Joint Credit Information Center (NCCC) in 2018 to design and develop systems, integrating a credit card small payment platform. In 2019, it took a further step by launching the “electronic ticket” payment service, allowing customers to enjoy fast checkout by simply tapping their EasyCard, iPass, icash, or HappyCash.

Currently, McDonald’s electronic ticket payment service is still being tested at certain specific outlets. Starting January 15, four outlets will officially begin accepting electronic ticket payments. It is also expected that by early March, all McDonald’s locations in Taipei City will join the service, with the entire island-wide rollout of the electronic ticket payment function scheduled for completion by the end of March.
