Kaohsiung’s popular new landmark “Gangshan Eye” announced in late 2018 that it would close for renovation and was expected to reopen on the first day of the Lunar New Year. By then, visitors will once again be able to enjoy the beautiful scenery of Kaohsiung during the Spring Festival holiday.

Located on Little Gangshan at the border of Gangshan District and Yanchao District in Kaohsiung, the biggest highlight of Gangshan Eye is the 88-meter-long Sky Corridor, where visitors can overlook Agongdian Reservoir, Agongdian Forest Park, Agongdian River, and the plains. On clear days, you can even see the North Dawu Mountain Range, as well as landmarks in Kaohsiung such as the 85 Sky Tower, Shoushan, and the Taiwan Strait, taking in the full mountain and water scenery of Greater Kaohsiung.
The Sky Corridor is designed with music as its main concept—the main tower bridge resembles a violin, and the cables are like violin strings, symbolizing “harmonious melodies.” Walking along the Sky Corridor feels like performing music, and when paired with the vast scenic views, the experience is truly poetic.
In addition to renovating the corridor and landscape facilities, the renovated Gangshan Eye also includes a newly planned parking lot for visitors, with completion expected in May.
Recently, the Kaohsiung City Government has been actively promoting the city’s tourism, inviting veteran entertainers such as Bai Bingbing and media personality Chen Wenqi to help market Kaohsiung, sparking widespread discussion. Now, with the reopening of Gangshan Eye, the Kaohsiung Tourism Bureau has revealed plans to invite veteran actress Zhang T**min to star in a promotional MV, once again generating buzz. The bureau stated that the target demographic for Kaohsiung tourism is the silver-haired generation, and they hope that through the endorsement of seasoned entertainers, they can attract this group to visit and experience the city.
