This Lunar New Year in Taipei, in addition to continuing the traditional Lunar New Year Street Market and Taipei Lantern Festival, the city has also partnered with PX Mart to present the Luminarie light sculpture exhibition “2019 Taipei Light Feast,” a magnificent 300-meter-long light corridor that grandly opens on the first day of the Lunar New Year, offering a unique and romantic festive atmosphere in Taipei.

The 2019 Taipei Light Festival's Luminarie light sculpture art exhibition was composed of three structures—Galleria, Façade, and Spalliera—using 233,990 LED bulbs to create a 300-meter-long, 20-meter-high light corridor. Accompanied by classical symphonies from composers such as Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, and Brahms, it presented a magnificent, spectacular, and awe-inspiring feast of light.
The "Galleria" is located on Section 4 of Ren'ai Road and consists of 21 arches with varying intervals of 4 to 20 meters, forming a 311-meter-long light sculpture tunnel.
"Luminarie" originates from Italy and was co-designed by Japanese artist Hirokazu Imaoka and Italian designer Valerio Festi. In Italian, it means "light" or "illumination." It is an artistic masterpiece designed with wooden structures and various colored bulbs to create a three-dimensional dreamlike space. After the Great Hanshin Earthquake in Japan, it also became an annual iconic event in Osaka to commemorate the disaster.
The "Spalliera" is located at Civic Square in an Π-shaped layout, with a circumference of 136 feet and a height of 22 meters.
During the Taipei Luminarie light sculpture art event, which ran from Lunar New Year’s Day on February 5 to February 19, the lights were illuminated in the evening at Civic Square and Section 4 of Ren'ai Road. The event also collaborated with charitable organizations to host a charity market and featured a large-scale installation artwork titled "#beTAIPEI," creating a dazzling light corridor for Taipei’s Light Festival. The timing also coincided with Valentine’s Day on February 14, adding a romantic and fitting touch to the celebration.
