With the cool autumn breeze in the air, it’s time to get ready for hiking and camping again. If you love outdoor adventures during your travels, the latest must-try experience has to be staying in a spherical tent nestled in the forests of Shizuoka, Japan. The reason? The first park in Japan to open accommodations — “INN THE PARK” — has just launched in Numazu City.
Located within a 600,000-square-meter natural forest, INN THE PARK focuses on three main elements: lodging, dining, and nature experiences. It has reimagined a space originally opened 30 years ago for youth to engage with nature, now redefined as a “park you can stay in.”
The most eye-catching feature in the forest is undoubtedly the white spherical tents suspended directly among the trees, offering an authentic zero-distance experience of living in nature. However, to protect the environment, there are only three spherical tents and one spherical hanging tent available, each accommodating just two adults — so book quickly if you want to stay in one. Even if the spherical tents are fully booked, don’t be disappointed, as there are two other accommodation options: a lodge-style room and wooden-platform tents, catering to different traveler needs.
In addition to lodging, INN THE PARK also hosts a variety of activities and workshops, such as stargazing, photography classes, essential oil aromatherapy, and outdoor cooking, allowing visitors to immerse themselves fully in nature.
