Little Yo’s Home

A new parent-child attraction in Pingtung, Taiwan’s first large swing-themed inclusive playground “TaiTang County Citizen Park (A-Kao 1909 Green Water Park)” is super fun!We were lucky to spend Christmas on a family trip down south to Pingtung, and of course we had to check out this unique playground. TaiTang County Citizen Park (A-Kao 1909 Green Water Park) offers a variety of inclusive play equipment. Most notably, it features the “Bulog Grid” from Taichung’s Aofengshan Sports Park, as well as nine parent-child swings — a very rare find!

■ Location: No. 2, TaiTang Street, Pingtung City, Pingtung County (navigate to “A-Kao 1909 Green Water Park,” drive to the end of TaiTang Street, next to the TaiTang baseball field)

TaiTang County Citizen Park is located within A-Kao 1909 Green Water Park. The park covers an area of 9 hectares and can be reached by driving all the way to the end of TaiTang Street.

Arriving at TaiTang County Citizen Park (A-Kao 1909 Green Water Park) feels like stepping into a fairy-tale world. Vast greenery is accented with pops of bright color, and cute ladybug installations bring a fresh new look to the park. The play area combines landscaped mounds and grassy fields, covered with artificial turf mats, seamlessly blending nature and landscape. The undulating terrain and large grassy areas let kids run freely and burn off energy to their hearts’ content.

TaiTang County Citizen Park (A-Kao 1909 Green Water Park) is a fun and challenging playground, featuring eight major play structures, each with unique ways to play that stimulate various abilities in children! The playground is divided into three zones, and we started with one of them.

We’ve seen spinning cups in many unique playgrounds up north — you just sit on them and they spin. Yo really loved them when he first discovered them at Rongxing Park. They’re common in many parks, but after spinning for too long, he’d get dizzy and didn’t want to play on them for too long.

Kids love trying new play equipment, but it’s important to assess how they’re feeling during play. Trying things out first helps them understand their limits and learn to control how often and how long they play.

We were so excited to see the Bulog Grid!We first played on one at Taichung’s Aofengshan Sports Park, which is known for having many unique play structures. That one had lots of high steps, which was a bit challenging for Yo—the first step up was quite high—so this kind of equipment is better suited for older kids.

At the time, Yo struggled quite a bit climbing it. But at TaiTang County Citizen Park (A-Kao 1909 Green Water Park), climbing the Bulog Grid was much easier for him. Being a climbing enthusiast, he had a blast and climbed up step by step, quickly reaching the top!

Standing at the top and taking in the view, feeling the breeze while enjoying the sense of accomplishment—it brought indescribable joy to the child. Yo played on it over and over again without getting tired!

The “extreme flying wheel,” commonly found in unique playgrounds across Taiwan, is here too. You can either walk or sit on it, and it’s even more fun when multiple people play together! It’s also a great opportunity for kids to learn how to interact with peers, taking turns pushing and riding—so much fun!

The triangular rope net climbing frame is a super energy-burning piece of equipment. The most impressive design we’ve seen was at Jinhe Sports Park and Lianchi Pond Children’s Park. The climbing frame at TaiTang County Citizen Park (A-Kao 1909 Green Water Park) is relatively low, making it suitable for younger kids. But for bigger kids like Yo, he was up to the top in no time!

Play should include some challenges to encourage kids to find solutions as they try, helping them reach the goal—and making the fun even greater!

The small slide set is perfect for toddlers. Not only is it delicately designed, but there are also many ways to play. We’re sure little ones who love slides will linger here for ages!

It would be even better if there were a slide for the older kids too!

Haha, it’s secret-sharing time again! There are several flower-shaped talking tubes around the playground. Yo said, since it’s a secret, we should speak softly—but softly enough that we couldn’t hear him!

Walking to another play zone, we were surprised to find a “semi-circular rope net climbing frame”!

We’ve played on one of these at Tianhe Park too. The climbing frame consists of various shaped and functional pieces, allowing kids to climb, crawl, walk, swing, and even “slide”!

Crawling into the climbing frame means a series of challenges, and the varied ways to play made Yo concentrate hard and play with enthusiasm!

Let’s try the rope bridge!

Ha, it turns out the goal is to play on the “rocking bed”—so comfortable!

On to the next challenge!Grabbing onto ropes and climbing all over the place, like little monkeys swinging through the trees—super energy-consuming!

After climbing sideways, it’s time to go upwards. Just the climbing frame alone provides hours of play, perfectly satisfying kids’ active curiosity!

Some kids may be hesitant to try the climbing frame. Parents need to be patient and guide them to find the right approach. We’re still working on guiding our child, learning together and hoping for mutual growth!

Wow, over here there’s a mini skateboard ramp—you can experience a different kind of “slide,” which is quite thrilling.

The vertical rope looks easy to climb, but it’s actually a bit tricky. Climbing it makes it sway—haha, adding a bit of difficulty fuels Yo’s determination to conquer it. He’s such a kid who hates to lose!

In the end, he really did make it to the very top. Where there's a will, there's a way. I hope that as this child grows up, whenever he faces challenges, he'll carry the same spirit he had while playing on the playground—never give up!

Following the cute little ladybug path, we arrived at the third play area. This section is a grand collection of swings—there are as many as nine swings in total, in four different designs, lined up in a row, truly spectacular. Currently, in northern Taiwan, only Xizhi Baiyun Park has a relatively large number of swings. Taisugar County Citizens' Park (A-Kao 1909 Green Water Park) allows kids to play without waiting in long lines—it’s such a blessing!

So of course, we had to try every single one of them. Except for the diaper swing (which he couldn’t fit into), the bird’s nest swing, the platform swing, and the parent-child swing were all super fun!

Yo had been wanting to play the parent-child swing with me. This type is actually more suitable for younger toddlers, but to fulfill his dream of swinging with mom, he really squeezed himself in!

In the past, we didn’t have such play equipment that let us enjoy the joyful time of playing together as parent and child. Now, swinging together with my child warms my heart. With Yo’s laughter drifting up to the clouds, I really wish time could stop right here. As kids grow up, there won’t be too many chances to swing together in the future. I’m cherishing the present—this rare memory will be lasting and unforgettable...

Covering an area of 9 hectares, Taisugar County Citizens’ Park (A-Kao 1909 Green Water Park) has ample open space for children to run and play. On a sunny day, bring a picnic mat, sit under the shade, have a picnic, and play with your child. What a wonderful experience!

Although Taisugar County Citizens’ Park (A-Kao 1909 Green Water Park) is a lot of fun, it doesn’t have restrooms onsite—they’re located around the park, which can be a bit inconvenient. Also, the shaded areas are quite small. On sunny days, they don’t offer much cover, so it’s better to visit early in the morning or in the evening.

A fun park needs everyone’s care and maintenance. We encourage families visiting with children to take good care of public property, learn to queue and share, and most importantly, to take their trash with them. Be a good role model for your kids!
