1. Pack Warm Clothing: In northern China during winter, temperatures usually drop below 0°C. Choose clothing that is lightweight, comfortable, suitable for movement, and warm. Bring essentials such as down jackets, wool sweaters, wool pants, hats, gloves, and scarves. There can be a huge difference between indoor and outdoor temperatures, so dress accordingly — remember to remove coats and hats when entering a heated area.

2. Watch Your Step: Roads in the north are often icy and slippery in winter. Wearing leather boots increases the risk of slipping, so it's better to wear snow-proof, anti-slip cotton shoes — those with good grip are ideal. Shoes with inner cotton lining are preferable, and the shaft should be relatively high to protect your ankles. Cotton shoes should have insoles, and you may want to opt for a size larger than usual to allow some space for your feet, which helps with blood circulation.

3. When engaging in outdoor activities, if any part of your body feels cold, make sure to keep moving to improve circulation. If you experience frostbite, cracked skin, or numbness in your hands or feet, do not apply hot water.

4. Winter weather is dry and cold, which can easily lead to chapped skin. Use oil-based skincare products. Due to the dry air, you might often feel thirsty. It’s helpful to place some water in your room at night and drink it in the morning.

5. Each time you get out of the vehicle, check whether there is water or ice underfoot. Be cautious: winter roads are slippery. Walk carefully with your knees slightly bent and your center of gravity leaning forward — this helps prevent falls. Even if you do fall, it’s less likely to injure your head.

6. Carry Medications: Winter is cold, so it's essential to bring cold medicine and other common medications when traveling.

7. Before departure, enhance your cold resistance training, and pack enough clothing and daily necessities based on the cold level of your destination.
