Railway Bento Festival Returns – E7 Hokuriku Shinkansen-Themed Bento Makes Another Appearance

Remember the “2015 1st Railway Bento Festival” that kicked off alongside the food exhibition last year (2015)? This year’s event will be held again, and in addition to Taiwan Railways Administration, it has also invited participants such as East Japan Railway Company, Seibu Railway, Tobu Railway, and Keikyu Electric Railway. Last year’s hottest item—the E7 Hokuriku Shinkansen-themed bento—will also go on sale once more.

The beef sukiyaki bento and E7 series Shinkansen bento launched by JR East Japan last year, each limited to 50, sold out in less than half an hour. Creative Travel Service, which assisted JR East Japan in exhibiting and selling the railway bentos, stated that for food safety reasons, all bentos are freshly made every morning, and some ingredients and bento boxes are air-freighted from Japan to Taiwan, so the quantity cannot be too large—limited to 50 per day.
