“Experience the Fun of Ice and Snow, Enjoy the Warmth of Hot Springs” — One of the series of events under the 2018 Li County Miyaluo Red Leaf Hot Spring Festival, the 4th Bipenggou Ice and Snow Hot Spring Festival and the 1st Douyin Influencer Challenge in Li County, grandly opened on December 15 at Namu Lake in the Bipenggou Scenic Area.
The opening ceremony featured a variety of interactive programs, colorful cultural performances, a fantastical ice and snow fairy-tale themed exhibition, and a wide range of winter recreational activities. With multiple engaging formats, the event aimed to create an all-inclusive ice and snow hot spring festival for everyone, offering visitors a brand-new way to enjoy winter travel.
This Ice and Snow Hot Spring Festival was jointly organized by the Aba Prefecture Tourism Development Commission, Aba Prefecture Sports Bureau, Aba Prefecture Forestry Bureau, the CPC Li County Committee, and the People’s Government of Li County, and hosted by Bipenggou Tourism Development Co., Ltd. By integrating unique ice and snow hot spring resources and combining natural landscapes, winter recreation, wellness hot springs, and Tibetan-Qiang culture, the festival introduced distinctive winter tourism routes. It seeks to continuously enhance the overall appeal of winter tourism and establish “Playing in the Snow, Soaking in Hot Springs, Experiencing Tibetan-Qiang Culture” as a renowned winter tourism brand for Li County.
On the opening day, popular Douyin influencers were also invited to the site to shoot videos with visitors and participate in the Bipenggou Douyin Video Challenge. Ethnic song and dance performances with distinctive Tibetan-Qiang characteristics, such as “Ink and Colors — Merging Sun and Moon” and “Waiting for You in Bipenggou,” earned rounds of applause from the audience. Additionally, the Bipenggou Scenic Area recognized and awarded outstanding partner travel agencies for their annual collaboration, jointly contributing to the successful launch of the Ice and Snow Hot Spring Festival.
Starting December 15, 2018, the winter carnival of the Bipenggou Ice and Snow Hot Spring Festival officially commenced. During this period, visitors to Bipenggou can not only admire snow-capped mountains, glaciers, ice waterfalls, ice-covered trees, ice lakes, rime, snowfields, snow scenery, and enjoy sunshine and fresh air, but also engage in a variety of winter recreational activities such as snowboarding, snow boating, snowmobiles, snow tanks, and dune buggies. They can experience the joy of a fairytale ice and snow world as well as the comfort of snowfall hot springs. Moreover, by participating in the Douyin influencer challenge, they can even win cash prizes.
The Bipenggou Scenic Area is located in Putou Township, Li County, and is a national-level eco-tourism demonstration zone, one of China’s Top Ten Eco-Tourism Scenic Areas, part of the UNESCO Man and Biosphere Reserve, and a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.
