Protecting Green Mountains and Clear Waters: We Are Taking Action—The Chongqing Launch Ceremony of the Toread Green Mountains Action

On December 9, 2018, the Chongqing launch ceremony of the Toread Green Mountains Action, jointly organized by Toread and Green Field Network, was held in Chongqing. 140 outdoor enthusiasts from the Chongqing Outdoor Alliance gathered at the Affiliated Middle School of Southwest University in Beibei District to experience a 12-kilometer hiking journey. They collected all the trash along the way and disposed of it in the trash bins provided along the route. Not only did they enjoy the natural scenery together, but they also experienced the charm of simple charity and simple walking, contributing their part to the public welfare cause. During the event, Toread not only provided eco-friendly garbage bags for every participant but also distributed an exclusive environmental charity fund and commemorative T-shirts. It is hoped that every outdoor enthusiast will leave only footprints and photos behind, returning the great outdoors to its pristine green mountains and clear waters.

One of the volunteers, Lou Zhifei, said, “Previously, we volunteers had to pick up the trash around here one after another. Now, seeing more and more people joining environmental organizations and practicing environmental protection through concrete actions, I feel especially gratified.” Along the way, the 140 volunteers collected 20 to 30 kilograms of trash, and everyone said that participating in such an activity was especially meaningful.

It is reported that the Toread Green Mountains Action aims to provide Toread members, the broader outdoor community, and the general public with opportunities to engage in public welfare, experience the joy of outdoor activities, and spread positive energy. It hopes to encourage more people to join this public welfare initiative. In the future, Toread will continue to promote the environmental philosophy of “Explore green mountains, keep trails clean, and let travelers roam the world.” The event has been held successively in Beijing, Qingdao, and Chongqing.
