At around 16:30 on the 27th, the opening ceremony of the 17th China·Jilin International Rime and Ice Snow Festival was held in Beidahu. Unlike previous years, this opening ceremony featured a unique format—a performance set against a large-scale real snowfield backdrop, which was the first of its kind in China. Vice Governor Chen Weigen, Jilin Municipal Party Committee Secretary Zhang Xiaopei, and others attended the opening ceremony.
At 16:30, the opening ceremony officially began. First, 124 dancers performed an impressive dance titled "Snow Dedicated to the Gods." Then, several lights appeared on the snowy ski slopes in the distant mountains. As the lights approached, snowmobiles came roaring in. Surprisingly, behind the snowmobiles, a few “skiing athletes” sped in rapidly—it wasn’t until they got closer that the audience could see they were actually Jilin Municipal Party Committee Secretary and other attending leaders. This unconventional entrance added a touch of snowy fun to the event. According to reports, this Rime and Ice Snow Festival is jointly organized by the Jilin Provincial Tourism Bureau and the Jilin Municipal Government, and hosted by the Jilin Beidahu Sports Tourism Economic Development Zone.
In addition to the leaders’ unique entrance, another highlight of the opening ceremony was the use of a large-scale real snowfield as the performance backdrop—a first in China.
It is reported that this Rime and Ice Snow Festival will last for 91 days, featuring 16 diverse festive activities including the National Mass Skiing Invitational Tournament, World Snowboard Day Free Skiing, International Winter Dragon Boat Invitational Tournament, and China Jilin International Winter Swimming Invitational Tournament. The International Winter Dragon Boat Invitational Tournament will see the participation of 16 teams from Russia and within China.
