It may sound like a fairy tale that the fate of an entire village was changed by one person, but 86-year-old Huang Yung-fu made it happen. Grandpa Rainbow, as he is known, lives in a small village in Taichung, Taiwan. Originally built for the Kuomintang, the area later began to be settled by residents. But as urbanization accelerated, the village gradually declined and fell into disrepair.
But now you’d never know that such a state once existed — all thanks to the efforts of Grandpa Rainbow. Born in Hong Kong, Huang Yung-fu, despite his advanced age, leads a very healthy life: no smoking, no drinking, no gambling. Painting used to be just a way for him to pass the time, but it has now become his passion.
