Nowadays, there is a wide variety of folding bicycles on the market. But just how small can a bicycle be folded? The limiting factor remains the same—the bicycle wheel. To address this issue, Victor Alemán’s folding bicycle cleverly utilizes various hinges to maximize the folding potential of its two wheels. First, the spokes are detached from the center of the wheel and folded into the grooves on the inner side of the rim. Using a dual-switch mechanism, the rim is divided into six curved segments. When reassembling the bicycle, the spokes automatically spring back from the grooves to the center, allowing them to be easily reconnected to the central part of the wheel.
The frame of the bicycle is also foldable. First, the connecting tubes at the joints of the frame are shifted from one side to the other, and then the frame is folded together via hinges. Additionally, the handlebars and chain of this bicycle are also detachable.
