On October 19, the second preparatory meeting for the 6th Hubei Huangpao Mountain Tent Festival and the "Explore Mufu Mountain" car tourism treasure hunt competition (Tongcheng area) was held at the Tanghu Town Government in Tongcheng County. After months of preparation, the final arrangements for this edition of the Huangpao Mountain Tent Festival are set to be fully completed.
It is reported that this year’s Huangpao Mountain Tent Festival will open on October 27, with the main venue located at the newly built Wanghu Village Cultural Square on Huangpao Mountain. The Wanghu Village Square sits at an altitude of about 400 meters on Huangpao Mountain. The provincial key poverty alleviation project, the Mufu Mountain Ecological Tourism Highway, runs past the village and connects with local roads, making transportation very convenient.
The event offers a rich variety of activities and exciting programs. These include performances of Xiang-E-Gan border region flower-drum opera and local specialty acts, all-night music dance parties and camper bonfire gatherings, hiking along the Red Heroes Trail and outdoor trekking adventures, tasting of Huangpao Mountain selenium-rich agricultural products, exhibitions and sales of local specialties from Tongcheng and surrounding counties, as well as special barbecues. There will also be live Douyin videos featuring traditional costume beauties and livestreams by internet celebrities.
Huangpao Mountain is one of the top ten famous mountains in Hubei, boasting abundant tourism resources. It features a number of red culture sites such as the early revolutionary memorial hall of Marshal Luo Ronghuan, the Huangpao Revolutionary Martyrs Memorial Park, the former site of the Hunan-Hubei-Jiangxi Provincial Party School, the Tomb of Huang Jumu — the Heroic Mother, the Red Army Hospital, and the former site of the County Soviet Government. There are also historical sites related to notable figures including the Memorial Hall of Fang Qiong — the anti-Jin hero with three generations of imperial scholars, the residences of the Five Li Three Jinshi, the Lu Zhi Mansion (former home of Huang Tingjian), the Wen Ding Shi Di Mansion (former home of Zhang Wending), the ancient Guan Fort on Kuzhuling, and the Selenium Spring & W??蟆, among others. Natural attractions include the province’s first canopy adventure park, Gugu Suspension Bridge, Pipa Valley, the natural sulfur hot springs, the adventurous Wild Amusement Forest, and the romantic Lovers’ Valley. Additionally, there are spiritual tourism sites like the Jiuli Temple, the Martyrs’ Memorial Hall, the Folk Culture Exhibition Hall, and the expansive Prayer Platform. With further planned developments such as a sightseeing cableway, revolutionary museum, folk culture street, and more, the overall tourism experience at Huangpao Mountain is poised for significant enhancement.
