On the 9th, an international ski and wellness resort center with a total investment of approximately 12 billion RMB was established in Jiangjin, Chongqing. This theme park, aiming to become the “Disneyland” of western China, is set to be completed and operational in 2013, with an expected annual visitor volume of 3 million.
The project is designed to become the “Disneyland of western China,” integrating high-end leisure, entertainment, sports, and vacation experiences. It will include major public facilities such as a large-scale amusement park, an indoor ski slope, an indoor beach swimming pool, a tennis and badminton center, as well as tourism and commercial-residential real estate projects. The total investment is about 12 billion RMB, with a planned land area of around 3,000 mu, of which about 1,000 mu will be allocated for public facilities.
A project-related official introduced that the core component—the large-scale amusement park—is expected to be completed and begin operations in 2013. Once fully built, it will welcome over 3 million visitors annually. At that time, the 600-meter-long ski slope with a 95-meter drop will allow local residents to enjoy cool thrills all year round, while the indoor swimming pool’s fine sand from Australia’s Gold Coast will offer visitors a taste of the southern hemisphere’s natural ecology.
Guan Haixiang, Secretary of the Jiangjin District Committee of Chongqing, stated that Evergrande Group’s development of the international ski and wellness resort center will enable tourists to enjoy the coolness of snow and ice as well as beach activities even during the hot summer months. This project, along with the ecological tourism resources centered on Jiangjin’s Simian Mountain and Zhongshan Ancient Town, and the high-end leisure tourism offerings such as the Guangcai International Inland Yacht Home Port, will form a significant leisure and vacation destination in the region, injecting new vitality into the development of Chongqing’s leisure tourism industry.
