On January 15, 2012, the 10th Red Bull Nanshan Open, a TTR five-star event and the China stop of the World Snowboard Tour, concluded successfully. After fierce competition, Juuso Laivisto, the Finnish Red Bull-sponsored rider and champion of the 8th Red Bull Nanshan Open, claimed victory over Roope Tonteri, who currently holds the top spot in the TTR Slopestyle rankings. American rider Sam Hulbert, Finnish rookie Roope Tonteri, and South Korean rider Teddy Koo finished in second, third, and fourth places respectively.

With just one week until the Chinese Lunar New Year of the Dragon, after the competition, the organizers specially invited champion Juuso to add the finishing touch to a graffiti artwork that blends snowboarding and Chinese dragon elements.
