Aurora Café is probably the most surprising café I’ve visited recently—or even so far—in Taipei. This four-story building on Nanyang Tutoring Street is Aurora’s fourth branch in Taipei (the Beizhan branch). Open for just over a month, the Beizhan branch has quickly become a standout among the many cafés in the Beizhan area thanks to its creative, ever-changing spaces and extremely affordable prices.
I was just wondering where to grab a coffee this weekend when I received an invitation from Aurora. After watching their social media video, I immediately said yes—it was simply too enticing. From Exit 4 of NTU Hospital, turn left and walk straight ahead, then turn left at McDonald’s into Xinyang Street. Aurora is located at the intersection of Xinyang Street and Nanyang Street. The Aurora logo—a yellow owl—is very easy to spot.
The entrance features an outdoor seating area. The white ashtrays on the round tables indicate that smoking is allowed there, but it’s prohibited indoors. Pets are welcome in the café, but for safety reasons, they must be kept on a leash.

When I said the prices were extremely reasonable, I wasn’t exaggerating—the drinks range from $60 to $165, and takeout orders get a $20 discount. Any drink purchase allows you to add a cake from the dessert counter for just $55. That means—yes—even if you order the most expensive coffee, adding a cake will only cost you $220.

Stepping into Aurora Café, I was immediately blown away by the wall-to-wall greenery. Decorated with various colorful flowers and plants, it felt like stepping into a garden forest—so fun. The luxurious throne-like chair at the entrance isn’t just for show—you can definitely sit on it.

All of Aurora’s coffee beverages use self-roasted beans. The roaster and raw beans are displayed on the first floor in a workshop-style setup, offering a zero-distance showcase that brings customers closer to the coffee and creates a sense of reassurance.

On the side counter, they sell pod-style coffee. Yirgacheffe is my usual go-to, but roasting techniques vary, which can affect the flavor. Overall, though, it’s still my favorite bean.

The row of coffee bean cans lining the wall makes for the most eye-catching decoration behind the bar. And the best part? You can actually sit here, looking down from above, enjoying the view and peeking at the baristas at work.
Another amazing thing about Aurora Café is its fun and clever seating arrangements—keep reading to see just how cool they are XD

The dessert counter offers a variety of cakes and beers. The cakes are sourced from an external bakery, and the selection changes periodically. Orders are placed at the first-floor counter using a self-service system. After payment, you’ll receive a buzzer and collect your food when it rings.
While waiting for my coffee, I continued exploring and taking photos. I have to say, every space upstairs was so surprisingly delightful that I couldn’t stop clicking. Scroll down to enjoy the photos—I guarantee you’ll be amazed by Aurora’s versatile interior design.

The classical European vibe on the second floor isn’t just about furnishing the space with furniture—the seating arrangement and spatial design are incredibly thoughtful, constantly delivering pleasant surprises. I never expected a chain café to put so much care into its decor—not just beautiful, but also detail-oriented.

For instance, high stools aren’t as comfortable as sofas, so every seat here has a backrest. The round tables have small storage spaces underneath, and every seat comes with a power outlet. Grab your favorite sofa and enjoy an afternoon immersed in a retro, luxurious atmosphere.

Hmm? You think that’s all?!! No no no, the best is yet to come upstairs—keep reading XD
Wowzaa!!! The third floor is a total contrast to the classical romance of the second floor—it feels like a recreational park space. To create an open, airy feel, the staircase and partition leading to the fourth floor were removed, replaced with a slide and a grassy green wall to mimic a park landscape.
This is seriously super therapeutic and stress-relieving. Modern life is so stressful, sigh ><

There’s an indoor slide!! (eyes wide open) My inner child is completely thrilled—I’d slide down even if I flew out!!! Hahahaha almost took a tumble, and the speed was pretty fast too.
Therefore, the slide is only for those aged 12 and above. For your safety and others’, please follow the rules.

Let’s briefly head back to the third floor to check out some other spaces ^^
Have you guys been to the study centers near Taipei Main Station? These three private booths are pretty much like that concept. Sitting inside really gives you a “soundproof” feel—you can focus intensely on studying!!! And it’s also great for napping hahahaha

This area’s seats benefit from the greenhouse design, offering the best natural light, but it can get a bit hot with all the sunshine.

Heading back up to the fourth floor, I found there were even more seats. The diverse spaces made it so hard to decide where to sit XD. I wanted to try them all. The fourth floor has a large 12-person conference table, located deep within the café, making it perfect for meetings, study groups, and the like.
This green wall is an absolute photo magnet—even though it’s not real, the soothing effect is definitely there.

SKY WALK!!!!!! Kind of thrilling!!!!
By now, don’t you think Aurora Café is just too unique? And I haven’t even eaten anything yet XD

The selection of meals isn’t extensive at the moment, with only two types available: pancakes and paninis, each in three flavors. Just order a drink, and you can add on a pancake or panini at a discounted price. Today I only tried the pancakes, which come in three flavors: honey cream / berry cream / tuna cheese. Since the base of the pancakes is the same, the difference lies only in the chosen flavor, so the staff kindly let me try both the honey and tuna cheese versions.
For a mixed flavor option, just pay an additional charge: honey +$15 / berry +$20 / tuna +$30. Pancakes are made to order, so there’s a 10–15 minute wait.
The grid-style pancakes are slightly thin, with the surface baked to a caramelized color. Even when cooled, they remain crispy and fragrant without getting soggy or losing texture. The pancakes have a crisp rather than fluffy style. The tuna cheese was delicious and even more to my liking than the honey flavor.

Italian single-origin – Yirgacheffe Latte, which is simply Yirgacheffe + milk.
All single-origin coffees can be turned into a latte for just an extra $20. Delicious and affordable—what great value for money, folks, give them a round of applause, please.

Italian single-origin – Huila Supremo Latte, which is just Huila Supremo + milk.
It was my first time trying Guatemala Huila Supremo. The acidity wasn’t as bright as Yirgacheffe’s, but the taste was richer and smoother.

Pour-over single-origin – Turtle.
Turtle had a full-bodied mouthfeel with distinct aroma. I’m guessing it’s a medium-dark roast bean, with a hint of dark chocolate flavor—it’s quite unique.

Chocolate oolong tea – cake ordered separately is $70, or you can add it for $55 if you order a drink. Isn’t that incredibly generous? The chocolate cake roll is filled with oolong tea custard and tea plum, and the flavor is really special. It’s super tasty and not the least bit heavy. The cake itself is moist and soft—highly recommended.
Final thoughts:
Aroma Cafe has been open for less than two months, and with its diverse spaces and styles, it creates a truly unique coffee environment. Its convenient location and highly competitive pricing are sure to spark another coffee craze. I sat here from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm. From arriving when it was empty to leaving when it was full, I saw surprise on every customer’s face—whether students, adults, or kids, everyone seemed to find their own spot and joy here. As someone who spends every weekend at different cafes, I give Aroma Cafe a very high rating.
A small suggestion: if the meal options could be expanded or diversified a bit more, it would truly be the perfect café. That’s all from me—take care now.
