Since the start of winter, major ski resorts in Dalian have once again welcomed a peak in skiing activity. With the Spring Festival approaching, skiing enthusiasts are gathering in groups, ready to show off their skills and indulge in skiing during the holiday. However, professionals remind the public that while skiing is gaining popularity, it should be recognized as a high-risk sport. Every year during the ski season, there are safety incidents such as injuries to tourists while skiing.
During interviews, reporters learned that the main reason for frequent safety incidents is that novice skiers, whose skills are not yet proficient, attempt to hit intermediate or advanced slopes for a thrill. This kind of "overreaching" often leads to injuries. In response, skiing professionals advise beginners to learn from professional ski instructors as much as possible, starting with practicing on beginner slopes. Those whose skills have not reached a certain standard must not venture onto intermediate or advanced slopes. Beginner skiers should gradually progress from beginner to intermediate and advanced slopes, advancing step by step from slow to fast based on their own level and proceeding within their capabilities.
Skiers may only use higher-level slopes when they are skilled enough to stop safely and avoid obstacles and other skiers on the slope. When unable to effectively control speed and balance, one should consciously fall to the side and rear. The leading skier has priority over the slope compared to others, who must maintain a safe distance from those ahead. In the event of a collision, the responsibility lies with the skier behind. When overtaking, sufficient safe space must be left for the normal skiing of the skier being overtaken. Skiers taking a break should consciously stop at the edge of the slope and are prohibited from stopping in the middle of the slope. They should keep their equipment secure; if issues cannot be resolved, they should seek assistance from staff and must not obstruct others.
If skiers feel that their equipment is malfunctioning during skiing, they should stop immediately to inspect it. If the issue cannot be resolved, they should promptly ask for help from staff. In the event of an injury, the injured party should report it as soon as possible to on-site service personnel and rescue workers, and place their ski board upright on the slope more than 10 meters away from the injured person to signal the need for help and warn descending skiers to avoid the area.
According to relevant sources, this year all major ski resorts in Dalian have established a unified personal accidental injury insurance system. When going skiing, never forget to purchase accidental injury insurance for yourself. In the event of injury or fatality, the insurance coverage is 100,000 yuan, and the maximum limit for general medical coverage is 10,000 yuan.
