From New Year’s Eve to the sixth day of the Lunar New Year, over 30,000 people visited Jiangyou Doumu Mountain to participate in mountain-climbing blessings, watch thrilling tightrope performances, and engage in other folk activities, enjoying a joyful Spring Festival.
It is reported that climbing to welcome the new year is a folk tradition cherished by the Chinese for thousands of years. Starting early on New Year’s Eve, the folk activity of mountain-climbing blessings at Doumu Mountain kicked off. At Yunyan Temple, from the first to the sixth day of the Lunar New Year, events such as the mountain-climbing blessing competition, dragon and lion dances, plum blossom pile stunts, and hanging auspicious plaques and charm charms (pictured) attracted more than 30,000 visitors who had a great time participating.
Notably, the Doumu Mountain tightrope flying performance this Spring Festival was performed by 24-year-old female flyer Yang Li. She and her father Yang Haiping delivered five spectacular shows daily on the mountain’s tightrope, earning enthusiastic applause from visitors.
