The highly anticipated"Kaohsiung Sightseeing Double-Decker Bus"officially launched on the 7th for a four-month trial operation. The bus will operate along two routes—north-south and east-west—connecting key attractions and integrating with the MRT Red and Orange Lines as well as the light rail stations. Tourists can take in the beautiful cityscapes of Kaohsiung aboard the open-top double-decker sightseeing bus, with a provisional fare of NT$300.

 The Kaohsiung City Government stated that this is also the country's first "open-top double-decker sightseeing bus," featuring 44 seats on the upper deck, including specially designed sofa-style seating, and 10 seats on the lower deck. The bus is staffed with guides to provide commentary, and it is also equipped with handheld audio guide devices to accommodate foreign tourists. These devices come preloaded with attraction introductions and automatically play guided content upon arrival at each site. Currently, the audio guides are available in English, Japanese, and Korean, with plans to expand to other languages in the future.

The city government explained that the double-decker bus was designed with Kaohsiung’s climate in mind, balancing safety and environmental considerations. It is the first vehicle in Taiwan to meet the EU Euro VI emissions standard, aiming to offer all passengers an enjoyable, advanced, and eco-friendly journey.

Kaohsiung Bus, the operator of the service, noted that the open-top double-decker bus will run along two routes—east-west and north-south—with both lines starting and ending at the Love Boat International Terminal and Dream Mall. The routes connect attractions such as Pier-2 Art Center, Hamasen, Kaohsiung Exhibition Center, City Light Corridor, National Science and Technology Museum, and MRT Formosa Boulevard Station. The total travel time is approximately 40 minutes. During the trial period, only the north-south route will be in service, departing from Dream Mall without any intermediate stops.
