Asia accounts for seven of the top 10 visitor source regions to Taiwan; European, American and Australian travelers are gradually increasing

Search EngineSkyscanner.com.twRecently compiling search results from its official website and mobile app, and based on traveler data for departures in July and August, the search engine released the “Top 10 Visitor Source Countries and Regions to Taiwan for Summer 2016.” The top six are all Asian regions, including China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Macau, and Singapore, while the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia also made it into the top ten this time.

Skyscanner analysis pointed out that following China, Hong Kong, which ranks second in the number of visitors to Taiwan, enjoys steady growth in tourist numbers due to the lack of language barriers, a wide selection of flights, and Taiwan’s appealing lifestyle pace and distinctive cultural and creative villages. Ranked fourth, South Korea has seen increased interest in Taiwan in recent years due to many variety shows filming here, along with growing familiarity among Koreans with Taiwanese idol dramas and movies.

The inclusion of the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia in this ranking also shows that Taiwan is gradually becoming an option for travelers from Western countries. Skyscanner believes that Taiwan’s good public safety, beautiful scenery, and widespread availability of convenient Wi-Fi, along with its rich variety of outdoor activities such as diving and river tracing, have attracted many travelers from Europe, America, and Australia.
