The 2012 "Flying in Snow" National College Students Skiing Invitational Tournament and the 6th Beijing College Students Alpine Skiing Competition are scheduled to be held from February 1 to February 3, 2012, at the Beijing Yuyang International Ski Resort.
The Beijing College Students Sports Association has organized five consecutive editions of the Beijing College Students Alpine Skiing Competition. Skiing has become widely popular among universities in the Beijing area, and the skill level of athletes has improved significantly. Building on this foundation, this year marks the first time that universities from regions with an early start and high level of skiing development have been invited to participate. In addition to institutions from the Beijing area, a total of 27 higher education institutions from provinces and regions such as Jilin, Liaoning, and Inner Mongolia are taking part, with over 220 athletes and coaches—making it the largest college students skiing competition in China to date.
This college students skiing invitational tournament is the first cross-regional, multi-province competition involving university students from various regions, representing a high level of campus skiing in China. This event will further promote the widespread participation of college students in skiing, lay the foundation for hosting higher-level national college students skiing competitions in the future, and play a positive role in improving the skiing skills of Chinese youth.
It is also reported that, in addition to maintaining traditional alpine skiing events, this competition has introduced snowboarding events and has specially designed highly competitive and entertaining events tailored to the characteristics of college students.
