Two British climbing enthusiasts recently succeeded in scaling a roughly 160-foot rock fissure in the Grand Canyon area of Utah, USA, becoming the first to complete this challenging feat. No explorer had previously conquered this longest and most difficult fissure.
Tom Randall, 32, and Pete Whittaker, 20, squeezed their bodies into the long fissure and painstakingly conquered the “Century Crack” using only their hands. Before achieving this feat, Randall built a scaled-down replica of the fissure in his home basement to practice his techniques.
