Three youths from Wuhan cycle across China
On the 19th, three like-minded youths from Wuhan set off from the city on a cycling journey around China. They plan to spend the next year and a half biking from Wuhan to Zhejiang, then to Guangdong and Guangxi, entering Tibet via Yunnan and Guizhou, heading north to the northwest, traveling to Inner Mongolia, then to Dalian and Tianjin, and finally returning to Hubei via Hebei and Henan.
Chen Bo, born in 1989, is the only one among the three with long-distance cycling experience and serves as the team leader. Having previously worked at a youth hostel in Wuhan, he says traveling the world has been his childhood dream, but the motivation for this trip is "because I had a breakup, haha."
Zhou Wen, who is the same age as Chen Bo, used to have an enviable job. He resolutely quit to go on the trip. "Mainly, I want to find myself through travel, to figure out what I really want to do. I might start a business after coming back."
Zeng Fanyi, the youngest at 18 years old, prepared carefully for over half a month for this journey. "If I don’t go now, I’ll have to give up even more to fulfill this dream later." He hopes to broaden his horizons and find his own direction through the trip.
Yesterday at 10 a.m., amid the company of over 40 fellow cyclists, the cycling team set off from Qingshan Friendship Avenue toward Huangshi. Chen Bo’s father and his 82-year-old grandmother also came to see them off.
Chen Bo said they will share their experiences along the way through their social media accounts, while Zhou Wen mentioned he will document the journey with pen and paper.
