ISPO Beijing 2012: Unveiling Ski Equipment and Attire from Over 100 Years Ago

While many ski enthusiasts at this exhibition were chasing high-tech and high-priced equipment for thrills, ALPINE presented gear from more than a century ago—enough to make you pause and reflect.

These items were flown in from the Czech Republic, allowing us to compare how much equipment has advanced over the years. The collection includes men's and women's ski suits, skis, children's skis, ski gloves, ski boots, and more. Over 100 years ago, skiing was definitely an aristocratic sport, not something ordinary people could afford. This full set of gear would have been extremely valuable at the time. The skis were made of wood, the ski poles of bamboo, and the ski boots of cowhide with waterproofing. There were no proper ladies' ski pants back then—only ski skirts.
