The popularization of public bicycles has ignited everyone’s enthusiasm for cycling. On March 17, 15 cycling enthusiasts formed Zhuzhou’s first cycling team — the City Compass Cycling Team — and they are planning to cycle around Taiwan. The team welcomes cycling enthusiasts to sign up and experience the pleasure of touring the scenic island by bike.
Tang Wensheng, the legal representative of the Zhuzhou Cycling Association, introduced: “The members of the Compass Cycling Team are all experienced cyclists.” Zhang Wei, who won third place in the National Cycling Invitational held in Liling, is the team captain, while Liu Wei, who secured second place in the women’s category of last year’s Hunan Cycling Tour Finals, is one of the team members. Zhang Wei said that the Compass Cycling Team is a professional cycling team representing Zhuzhou in major provincial and national competitions and cycling performances, striving to achieve a competitive level among the nation’s best.
Tang Wensheng, who participated in the recording of CCTV’s program “Cities on Bicycles,” stated that as an emerging cycling capital, Zhuzhou looks forward to hosting national cycling events to better promote and showcase the city’s image as the “Power Capital” within the industry.
The Taiwan cycling tour will be organized three times this year, in May, September, and December. Each trip lasts 13 days, accommodates around 40 people, and costs over 13,000 yuan per person. Tang Wensheng reminded that nine of those days will be spent cycling, covering an average of about 100 kilometers per day. “Any cycling enthusiasts who can take on this challenge are welcome to sign up.”
