2012 IFSC Climbing World Cup (Chongqing Dadukou) is the opening event of the 2012 IFSC Climbing World Cup series, attracting over 100 world-class athletes from France, Russia, the Netherlands, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Singapore, and more to compete. Among them are the men’s speed climbing (international standard route) world record holder, Chinese athlete Zhong Qixin, and outstanding female speed climber He Cuilian.
From April 13 to 14, the 2012 IFSC Climbing World Cup will be held in Chongqing Dadukou. The world’s top 30 climbers will gather in Dadukou to compete. Chongqing residents will have the chance to witness the wall-climbing skills of world-class athletes up close.
The 2012 IFSC Climbing World Cup (Chongqing Dadukou) is the opening event of the 2012 IFSC Climbing World Cup series and also marks the first time a top-tier global climbing competition has come to Chongqing and the southwestern region. The event is organized by the International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC), and hosted by the Mountaineering Sports Management Center of the General Administration of Sport of China, the Chongqing Municipal Sports Bureau, and the People’s Government of Dadukou District, Chongqing. The competition is of world-class standard and prestige in the field of climbing.
The Chongqing leg of the competition has attracted over 100 world-class athletes from France, Russia, the Netherlands, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Singapore, and more. “Among the registered athletes, the most noteworthy include Zhong Qixin, the men’s speed climbing (international standard route) world record holder from China, who set the current world record of 6.26 seconds at the 2021 World Championships in Italy, where he also won the title. Also competing is He Cuilian, an outstanding female speed climber from China and former world record holder, who has won multiple world championships,” said Li Zhixin, Executive Vice President of the Chinese Mountaineering Association.
According to the organizing committee, the competition venue will be set up in the park square of Dadukou District, featuring an artificial climbing wall. During the event, the public can watch the competitions for free.
To boost public participation, the organizing committee has set up a climbing experience zone at Shunxiang Yijie Commercial Center in the Jiugongmiao business district of Dadukou since March. The zone is staffed with professional climbing coaches offering on-site guidance, allowing the public to experience the unique thrill of climbing for free.
