A group of "hiker" explorers got into trouble while climbing Mayas Snow Mountain in Ayangu Village, Tanshanling Town, Tianzhu County, Gansu Province, leaving 10 people trapped. Thanks to rescue efforts, 7 of the trapped individuals have been saved, while the remaining 3 are on their way back.
       Event recap:
At around 5 a.m. on the 25th, a 64-member explorer team made up of hikers from various areas embarked on an expedition to the summit of Mayas Snow Mountain in Ayangu, Tanshanling. By around 6 p.m., the Tianshui County Public Security Bureau’s 110 emergency hotline received an alert from returning explorers, reporting that an estimated 3 hikers had slipped into a snow pit on the northern slope of Tianchi (Heavenly Lake), with one suffering a severe head injury, two others sustaining limb injuries, and seven more trapped within Mayas Snow Mountain.
At 3:30 a.m. on the 26th, the 7 tourists trapped at the summit were successfully rescued by the rescue team and safely escorted to the on-site command center under their accompaniment. Two of the lightly injured tourists were urgently sent to the Tanshanling Town Health Clinic for examination. Based on the accounts of the rescued hikers, rescuers pinpointed the location of the other three trapped individuals and deployed a 24-person rescue team at around 4 a.m. By 11:30 a.m., the search team located the remaining three endangered hikers, one of whom was found semi-conscious due to injuries.
Mayas Snow Mountain in Tianzhu County stands at an altitude of 4,447 meters, featuring high elevation, long distances, low temperatures, and complex terrain. The affected area still has waist-deep snow, making rescue conditions extremely harsh. At around 2:50 p.m. on the 26th, when reporters arrived at the foot of Mayas Snow Mountain, rescue personnel were still heading to the scene one after another.
It is understood that this "hiker" explorer team consisted of 64 mountaineering enthusiasts from various locations. Most of the uninjured tourists have already taken vehicles back to Lanzhou, while the 7 who were rescued early in the morning have also been accommodated in local hotels.
