1. Olympic Forest Park

　　Covering an area of 680 hectares, Olympic Forest Park is Asia’s largest urban green space. Since its inauguration on July 3, 2008, it has become the largest gathering spot for Beijing’s top runners.

　　Pros: Accessible via Metro Line 8 and with special Olympic bus routes leading directly there.

　　Cons: No kiosks available; you must bring your own drinks.

　　2. Ritan Park

　　Ritan Park boasts spacious grounds and fresh air, offering runners a chance to enjoy classic imperial architecture along the way. Even more uniquely, it is said to be the site of one of the legendary “Eight Views of Yanjing” – the “Golden Terrace Sunset Glow.”

　　Pros: Multiple bus lines provide direct access.

　　Cons: Crowded with visitors and various enthusiasts.

　　3. Fragrant Hills (Jingyi Garden)

　　Located in the western suburbs of Haidian District, covering an area of 160 hectares with its highest peak at 557 meters above sea level, Fragrant Hills is a rare gem for mountain running in Beijing. While jogging, you can also admire landmarks such as Ghost-Frightening Peak, Jade Spring Mountain Villa, and Shuangqing Villa (pictured).

　　Pros: Convenient transportation, easy accommodation options, and plenty of recreational facilities.

　　Cons: Far from downtown and often crowded with tourists.

　　4. Taoranting Park

　　As one of China’s four most famous historic pavilions, Taoranting Park was built in the 34th year of Emperor Kangxi’s reign (1695) and is located northwest of Taoran Bridge on the South Second Ring Road. The park features 16.15 hectares of water surface, lush greenery, and pleasant scenery.

　　Pros: Many shops available, and close to Temple of Heaven Stadium, making it convenient for gear shopping.

　　Cons: Fairly crowded with people and various enthusiasts.

　　5. Kunyu River

　　Kunyu River is a section of the Jingmi Canal, stretching about 10 kilometers. Along the route are the world-renowned royal gardens of the Summer Palace and the Old Summer Palace. Starting from Kunyu River, you can pass by Peking University, the Summer Palace, Tsinghua University, and the Old Summer Palace, covering a total distance of just around 6 kilometers.

　　Pros: Close to Metro Line 4.

　　Cons: Too many tourists and students.

　　Other recommendations: Temple of Heaven Park, Chaoyang Park.
