“Shanshan” will blow your mind away — tea-based desserts make drinking tea ultra-fashionable

Can you only enjoy the aroma of tea at home? You can savor great tea even in the hustle and bustle of the city. Nestled in an alley on“Shanshan Lai Cha”, emphasizes cultivating its own tea leaves using natural farming methods, without weeding or using pesticides, allowing the tea trees to grow in harmony with nature. The beverages and meals in the shop incorporate elements from various types of tea, drawing you deep into the magical world of tea that’s hard to resist.
Breaking the traditional impression of a tea shop, the whole store has a dark color scheme with a modern and minimalist style. Manager Yang of Shanshan Lai Cha says, “In the past, the tea-drinking customer base was mainly middle-aged and older, so we incorporated modern and fashionable elements in both design and menu items to attract younger people to develop an interest in tea.” Unlike regular tea shops that only sell tea leaves, the store offers sit-in tea service and welcomes customers to come in and taste tea.

Shanshan Lai Cha owns its own tea plantation in Nanhua Mountain, Nantou. Manager Yang says that because no pesticides or fertilizers are used, the tea yield is relatively low, so tea is also planted in Sun Moon Lake, Alishan, Zhushan, and Mianjian, with a more diverse range of tea varieties including Jinxuan Oolong, Oriental Beauty, Cuiyu Green Tea, and Black Tea. For female visitors, the store especially recommends Honey Aroma Black Tea and Jinxuan Oolong; the former has floral notes and a honeyed sweetness, while the latter offers a faint milky aroma.

In line with summer, they have launched a special “Mountain Mist” series — like icebergs made of granita suspended on top of espresso, drizzled with specially brewed tea honey. The unique and smooth combination of tea and coffee is the store’s exclusive signature drink. Additionally, the “Ma | Men Sha Xuan Lian Shan” is a layered drink with a mellow aftertaste, slightly more intense than regular versions but with an added aromatic complexity.
Particularly noteworthy is that a large sign at the entrance warmly welcomes you to bring your own food. Manager Yang says that since the store primarily serves tea and does not offer main meals, guests are not restricted from bringing outside food, and everyone is welcome to dine and enjoy tea at the shop.

%Ji also offers coffee options if you're not in the mood for tea, and even when choosing coffee, you can still appreciate the shop’s tranquil ambiance.

It’s worth mentioning that as soon as you walk into the store, you’ll see a large bird’s nest installation artwork, woven from rattan branches and bamboo by tea masters from Alishan. You can also take photos inside the nest to experience the feeling of birds building their homes.
%Ji the interior also features artful combinations of wooden and fabric decorations, creating a warm and natural vibe that allows customers to experience the serene essence of birds and forests.
