The 11th Tour of Qinghai Lake International Road Cycling Race in 2012 will take place from June 29 to July 12, 2012, and for the first time will cover three provincial-level regions.
A total of 13 stages have been initially planned for the 11th Tour of Qinghai Lake. These include eight stages in Qinghai, 3.5 in Gansu, and 1.5 in Ningxia, covering a total distance of more than 2,300 kilometers, with a competitive distance of 1,925 kilometers. The opening ceremony will be hosted by the People's Government of Xining City, Qinghai Province, and the closing ceremony by the People's Government of Gansu Province.
It is understood that 22 teams will participate in this edition of the race. So far, the organizing committee has received applications from over 40 teams, including seven UCI Continental Professional Teams and one world-class team that has competed in the Giro d'Italia. The total prize money will reach 600,000 US dollars, once again making it the highest among races of the same level.
