Many people view being a flight attendant as a dream job, but this glamorous image often attracts excessive unwanted attention. An active-duty flight attendant revealed that once people find out she’s a stewardess, they start messaging her to buy worn clothing or even make offers for financial support. Even more disturbing are the “d*** photos.”

Aside from providing in-flight service, flight attendants also bear the critical responsibility of ensuring flight safety, making their role indispensable in the aviation industry. Compared to their counterparts in Europe and America, Asian flight attendants are often noted for their warm service and striking appearances, which inevitably lead to more expressions of affection from admirers both at work and in their personal lives.

An anonymous flight attendant pointed out that some people use Facebook messages or gift-giving to flirt — these are common ways of socializing.But others have made offers requesting to buy “worn underwear” or “used stockings,” among other strange demands.These situations are extremely disturbing and frustrating.

Additionally, some crew members have even been propositioned with offers of financial support worth tens of thousands of NT dollars per month. One flight attendant said:“People often just send close-up photos of their private parts — it’s absolutely terrifying!”The only thing you can do is delete them right away.

Flight attendants noted that most crew members receive professional training and have rational mental resilience, so when faced with such advances, most choose to ignore them, delete everything, and add the senders to their block lists. However, they still hopethe public can view the flight attendant profession with a normal mindset and avoid causing distress to crew members.

Furthermore, lawyerLi Qi-fangadded that sending nude photos to others constitutes sexual harassment under Article 2 of the Sexual Harassment Prevention Act. Once the victim files a complaint with the police and the claim is verified, the offender may be fined between NT$10,000 and NT$100,000. It could also violate the offense of coercion under the Criminal Code, punishable by up to three years in prison, detention, or a fine of up to NT$300.

Article 2 of the Sexual Harassment Prevention Act stipulates:
Sexual harassment referred to in this Act means any act of a sexual nature, other than sexual assault, that violates the will of the person involved and is related to sex or gender, and falls under any of the following circumstances:
1. Making the submission to or rejection of such conduct a condition for obtaining, losing, or diminishing rights or benefits related to employment, education, training, service, programs, activities, etc.
2. Displaying or transmitting text, pictures, sounds, images, or other items, or using discriminatory or insulting words or conduct, or other methods, that harm another person’s dignity or create an intimidating, hostile, or offensive environment, or improperly affect the person’s work, education, training, service, programs, activities, or normal life.
