The university's care team holds talks with the mountaineering team members
This is a special report from the Everest Base Camp (Special Correspondent Zou Jin, Correspondent Cao Zhikai) A 10-member care team from China University of Geosciences, led by Vice Presidents Xing Xiangqin and Lei Yalin, arrived at the Everest Base Camp at noon on the 6th to visit the university's mountaineering team members.
The care team set off for Tibet on the 2nd and arrived in Dingri on the 5th. Although most of them were experiencing varying degrees of altitude sickness, they didn’t rest and set off for the base camp by vehicle around 8 a.m. on the 6th.
After several days of continuous snowfall, the weather at the Everest Base Camp was exceptionally clear on the 6th. The arrival of the care team brought great excitement to the China University of Geosciences mountaineering team camp.
The honored guests were invited into the large tent for lunch. Dishes like cold spicy red peppers and stir-fried onions with meat—simple “Everest meals”—moved everyone deeply. But what truly drew cheers from the team members were hometown treats the care team had brought all the way from home, such as hot dry noodles, lotus roots, and duck necks.
During the post-meal discussion, Xing Xiangqin said that it is truly unprecedented in China for a university to independently organize a team to climb Mount Everest. He urged the team members to follow discipline, listen to commands, comply with arrangements, and complete this mountaineering mission safely and successfully.
It is reported that, as a co-organizer of this Everest climbing activity, a care team composed of leaders from our newspaper and the Wuhan Municipal Sports Bureau has also arrived in Tibet. They will reach the base camp today.
