Generation II Wilderness Survival Training Camp

2012Year4Month29to5Month1, the Green Field Generation II Wilderness Survival Experience Camp was held at the Jundu Mountain Ski Resort in Changping, Beijing, targeting healthy children aged6-14from Generation II families. The training content for these children included basic wilderness survival knowledge, outdoor hazard avoidance and self-rescue skills, as well as hands-on wilderness survival experiences. Throughout the camp, the lively and active children eagerly absorbed knowledge about surviving in the wild, while the instructors patiently demonstrated and explained various outdoor skills and the use of equipment. This harmonious combination contributed to the successful running of the wilderness survival training camp. Not only did it bring Generation II kids closer to nature and outdoor activities, but the joyful smiles and happiness they displayed each day also deeply moved everyone involved.

Abroad, family outdoor activities have become a way of life, and wilderness survival education has been made a compulsory part of children’s learning. Through these courses, children have greatly benefited — for example, in2004, before the Indonesian tsunami struck, a 10-year-old British girl named Tilly, who was vacationing with her family in Phuket, Thailand, noticed many bubbles suddenly appearing on the sea surface and the tide rapidly receding. Using her disaster recognition knowledge, she predicted that a tsunami was imminent. With the cooperation of her mother and beach staff, she quickly helped evacuate hundreds of tourists just before the tsunami hit... The UK's Sun newspaper called Tilly the "Beach Angel." Similarly, in10, a 13-year-old American boy named Grayson got lost during a camping trip with his family. Using the wilderness survival skills he had learned, he tore strips from his raincoat, tied them to trees as markers, and left signs. A day later, rescue workers successfully found him thanks to those markers... These incidents illustrate how outdoor knowledge and wilderness survival education have a significant impact on Generation II kids — not only enriching their lives with invaluable experiences, but also teaching them self-rescue and allowing them to truly enjoy the outdoors. In China, parents show love to their children in many ways: sending them to the best schools, buying them the finest clothes, preparing delicious meals... Whenever kids make requests, parents often try their best to fulfill them. But have you ever realized that letting children connect with and appreciate nature is also a form of learning and growth — one that is irreplaceable and immensely precious? Playing outdoors helps children develop better physical health, stimulates their imagination (not the kind seen in Hollywood blockbusters), and the wide range of knowledge gained in nature adds invaluable experience and wisdom to their growth.2009Year,9-year-old American boy Grayson got lost from his family during a camping trip. These incidents all demonstrate that outdoor knowledge and wilderness survival education have a significant impact on the second generation of outdoor enthusiasts. While gaining invaluable life experiences, they also learn self-rescue and how to truly enjoy the outdoors. But have you ever realized that exposing children to nature and helping them connect with it is also a form of learning and growth? And this kind of learning is irreplaceable, this kind of growth is truly precious. Playing outdoors helps children develop better physiques and greater health, while also encouraging them to use their imagination—not the kind seen in Hollywood blockbusters, but their own. Meanwhile, the wide range of knowledge gained outdoors adds valuable experience and wisdom to their growth.

Green Field Generation II focuses on the development of school-age children, carrying forward the tenacious spirit of outdoor enthusiasts in understanding and connecting with nature. We believe that a child’s growth requires not only a smart mind but also a strong body and a sound character. The Green Field Generation II Training Camp uses nature as its foundational platform and learns from the green mountains and clear waters. Through carefully designed programs, it teaches children to think with their minds, feel with their hearts, and actively learn to coexist harmoniously with nature and society — ultimately growing into a new generation with wisdom, strength, and integrity. The Generation II Wilderness Survival Training Camp organized by Green Field this time provided an excellent learning opportunity for the children. We believe that every child who participated surely gained a great deal in various ways.
