Kaifeng girl Gao Lin fails to reach the summit; Luoyang native Dong Fan succeeds in summiting

This is a report from our newspaper. The China University of Geosciences mountaineering team successfully reached the summit of the world's highest peak—Mount Everest—at 8:16 a.m. on May 19. Regrettably, Gao Lin, a team member from Kaifeng who was previously reported on by our newspaper, did not reach the summit, while Dong Fan, a team member whose ancestral home is in Luoyang, Henan, succeeded in reaching the top.
Dong Fan, whose ancestral home is in Luoyang, Henan, is 51 years old this year. He is the deputy director of the Physical Education Department at China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) and has been involved in mountaineering for 28 years. He has organized and climbed numerous snow-capped mountains with altitudes exceeding 7,000 meters.
Regrettably, Gao Lin, a girl from Kaifeng who was reported on by our newspaper on March 10 this year after successfully climbing the 8,201-meter-high sixth highest peak in the world, Cho Oyu, did not continue her climb after reaching the 5,800-meter-high camp and failed to reach the summit.
