From fashion to food, the Taiwanese market has attracted countless Japanese brands in recent years, and now Tsutaya Books, renowned as the “world’s most beautiful bookstore,” is also coming to Taiwan. One of the most talked-about topics is the location for Tsutaya Books, and the latest news suggests that Hsinchu may be the chosen spot.

Recent reports indicated that Tsutaya Books would set up in Uni-President Times Square, going head-to-head with Eslite Bookstore. However, according to a report by the United Daily News, the latest potential location for Tsutaya Books might be the “Hsinchu Prefectural Library” in Hsinchu.

Prior to the official division between Hsinchu City and Hsinchu County, the Hsinchu Prefectural Library was purchased by Shin Kong Life Insurance from the Hsinchu County Government. However, due to the building being a historical structure, it had long been difficult to repurpose. According to current plans by the Hsinchu City Government, the Hsinchu Prefectural Library will undergo architectural restoration early next year, with completion expected by the end of next year, followed by the start of leasing efforts.

It is reported that the Shin Kong Group has already been in talks with Tsutaya Books and is moving forward with the goal of revitalizing the historic Hsinchu Prefectural Library through the bookstore. Although specific details are not yet clear, this has only heightened anticipation among Taiwanese fans for the arrival of Tsutaya Books.
