It is understood that three hikers from the Pearl River Delta region set off together to explore the mountains of Shaodi Ding in Luokeng Town, Qujiang District, Shaoguan City, Guangdong Province, on May 25. The next day, a sudden heavy fog caused their navigation systems to fail, and they ultimately lost their way in the mountains.
At around 10 p.m. on May 27, the Luokeng Town government received a notice from higher authorities that three non-local hikers had lost their way in the Xiadong area of Xindong Village. That evening, the rescue team asked the lost hikers to stay put at a safe location and wait for help. At 6 a.m. yesterday, the rescue team set out for the Xiadong mountain area at dawn. After three hours of trekking through rugged terrain, the rescuers finally found the three missing hikers. One of the hikers had twisted an ankle but recovered quickly after receiving treatment from a doctor on the rescue team. After descending the mountain, the Luokeng Town government prepared lunch for them, and afterward arranged transportation to take the three adventurous hikers to the Shaoguan high-speed railway station. Currently, all three hikers are in good physical and mental condition.
The Luokeng Town government reminds all mountaineering enthusiasts not to attempt to conquer Shaodi Ding without adequate preparation — safety should always come first.
