The first regional mini-forum on "International Ski Culture Exchange" is scheduled to take place on June 9, 2012, at the Lijing Grand Hotel in Dalian, the Pearl of the North. The forum will adopt lecture and exchange formats to highlight the popularization and development of mass skiing.
With its unique charm and unstoppable momentum, the mass skiing movement is experiencing rapid growth in participation and swift improvement in skill levels. At the same time, the demand for professional ski resort personnel is also rising day by day, making talent development an urgent priority, and highly skilled ski instructors are in particularly high demand. This forum aims to promote the domestic mass skiing level and establish a communication platform among skiers, ski resorts, and instructors. It seeks to use mutual learning and inspiration among ski instructors as a catalyst to elevate the overall standard of mass skiing.
The forum will invite experts, entrepreneurs, and seasoned professionals from both China and abroad to deliver keynote speeches. Among them is B. Alward, a veteran ski school management expert with over 30 years of experience at major resorts such as Vail / Beaver Creek (the largest ski resort in the U.S.) and Loon (a typical mid-level ski resort in the U.S.). He is also an examiner of the Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA) and a senior instructor in alpine competitive skiing in the United States.Luo Li, Chairman of Wanlong Ski Resort, known for its high-end positioning and widely recognized operational management standards within China; Ma Chunye, General Manager of the Changbai Mountain International Resort Management Company, which operates a highly sought-after ski destination and Asia’s most advanced and prestigious four-season resort; Xiao Jingge, Chairman of Green Outdoor Network, China’s leading outdoor leisure and self-guided travel platform; and Zhang Yi, lecturer at the School of Physical Education of Jilin University and a guest instructor for the Special Training Team of the Chinese Ski Association.
The rapid development of mass skiing in China shows that its true momentum and important driving force come from the public, and this grassroots energy represents new hope for the future of the ski industry. The lecture topics will include "Promoting Mass Skiing – Grassroots Momentum," "Expectations of Ski Resorts for Advanced Instructors," "Ski School Management – Delivered by a Senior Principal from the U.S.," and "Club Enthusiasts’ Aspirations for Enhanced Skiing Skills."
This event is a milestone in the history of China’s mass skiing development, representing a new direction and chapter for the sport. This gathering will further promote the popularization of mass skiing and lay the foundation for future specialized forums on ski school management and ski resort planning. It will also play a positive role in advancing the teaching standards of mass skiing in China.
