On June 1, reporters learned from the press conference of the 2012 Qinghai Gangshika National Ski Mountaineering Exchange Conference that the event will take place from June 2 to June 9. During this period, 40 ski mountaineering enthusiasts from 12 provinces and cities will experience the boundless charm of ski mountaineering on the 4,700-meter-high Gangshika Snow Mountain.
At the press conference, Li Wenmao, head of the New Projects Department at the Mountaineering Sports Management Center of the General Administration of Sport of China, Feng Jianping, director of the Qinghai Provincial Sports Bureau,and Nyima Zhuoma, governor of Haibei Prefecture in Qinghai Province, were among the leaders present. The meeting was chaired by Yang Pei, deputy director of the Qinghai Provincial Sports Bureau.
According to the organizers, this event is jointly hosted by the Chinese Mountaineering Association, the Qinghai Provincial Sports Bureau, and the People’s Government of Haibei Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, and is organized by the Qinghai Mountaineering Sports Management Center, the Culture and Sports Bureau of Haibei Prefecture, and the People’s Government of Menyuan County, Haibei Prefecture. The activity will once again use the ski mountaineering conference as an opportunity to develop Gangshika Snow Mountain into a skiing mountaineering destination in China. It aims to gradually build a comprehensive base on Gangshika that integrates ski mountaineering, alpine exploration, snow rescue, outdoor expansion, and ice climbing, better promoting this new flagship sporting event.
