As the quadrennial Summer Olympic Games are underway, to ride the wave of the 2016 Rio Olympics, Taipei Silks Hotel has innovatively launched the “Bubble Pearl Rainbow Tea” from August 5th to August 31st at the Upper Lounge on the second floor. Inspired by the Olympic rings and blending Eastern and Western mixology creativity, it cleverly combines Taiwan’s specialty oolong tea with seasonal summer fruits to craft five colorful fresh fruit molecular pearl teas. With pearls bursting in your mouth and sweet fruit juices overflowing with every crisp “bubble” sound, it not only cools off the summer heat but also adds fun.
To echo the meaning of the Olympic rings emblem, head mixologist Zhang Yen-chuan of Taipei Silks Hotel used his creativity to combine Western molecular gastronomy techniques with the essence of Chinese tea culture. Using the sweet and refreshing Alishan charcoal-roasted oolong as the base, he crafted five colorful, translucent, juice-packed molecular pearls using seasonal fruits—these include a light blue pearl made from Kaohsiung Dashu lychees, a dark black pearl from Nantou Zhongliao plum, a bright red pearl from Miaoli Dahu strawberries, a vivid yellow pearl from Tainan Ataulfo mangoes, and a grass-green pearl from Tainan Qigu cantaloupes.
The “Bubble Pearl Rainbow Tea” is priced at NT$280 per cup, while the Brazil Rio Memorial Set (five mini cups) is NT$380.
