Self-driving in pursuit of dreams, blossoming across Germany in the height of summer
On July 18, 2012, a press conference for the self-drive inspection tour, jointly organized by the German National Tourist Board, Chic Outlet Shopping (Europe’s nine premier outlet villages), AVIS Rent a Car, and VisitFlanders (Belgium), was held at the Beijing office of the German National Tourist Board.
This self-drive inspection tour departed from Beijing on July 1, taking participants on a road trip through seven cities—Düsseldorf, Genk, Koblenz, Rüdesheim, Wiesbaden, Würzburg, and Ingolstadt—before returning to Beijing on July 8.
The highlight of this inspection tour was self-driving and shopping experiences. Participants rented vehicles from AVIS Rent a Car, freely exploring major German cities with the open road at their command and every moment under their control. The itinerary included the Rhine Valley, a visit to the Nürburgring F1 racetrack, and a stop at Audi’s headquarters and production facilities. Alongside sightseeing in both large cities and small towns, experiencing the charm of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and sampling German cuisine and wine, the self-drive journey was exceptionally well-organized. The group also visited luxury outlet villages including Maasmechelen Village, Wertheim Village, and Ingolstadt Village.
