The first mall store of the top American outdoor brand PATAGONIA in China officially opened on September 1, 2012, at Beijing Wukesong Zhuozhan Mall, covering an area of 106 square meters.
The founder of PATAGONIA, Yvon Chouinard (伊冯.乔纳伊德), started his business in the 1950s by designing, manufacturing, and selling mountaineering equipment. Drawing on French climbing techniques, he improved the design of ice axes, and this craft became the foundation for modern ice axe design. In 1973, he founded Patagonia Clothing Company, which has since grown into a comprehensive high-end brand offering clothing, backpacks, and footwear.
The store’s design style was custom-created by an Australian design team appointed by the U.S. headquarters. The display of numerous green plants fully reflects the brand’s pursuit and reverence for nature—returning to nature and protecting it is also something that PATAGONIA has always stood for.
