In the golden autumn of Beijing, the renowned European mountaineering and outdoor brandSALEWA(SALEWA) joined forces with Tianchi Canyon Scenic Area, Green Field Outdoor Network, and Outdoor Magazine to organizeROCKSHOW 2012the final stop of the climbing festival――at Tianchi Canyon, which9on16successfully concluded at the serene, naturally rustic Tianchi Canyon Scenic Area. The two-day climbing festival attracted over60rock climbing and outdoor enthusiasts from across China, Germany, Italy, France, South Korea, Switzerland, Austria, and various Southeast Asian countries, along with30media outlets and guests, who200were immersed in the autumn scenery through activities such as rock climbing, bouldering,Table Boulderhiking, all while enjoying music, outdoor films, fine drinks, and delicious food.

Participants inROCKSHOW CHINA 2012ranged in age from10to60years old. To accommodate climbers of different genders, ages, and skill levels, experience and professional categories were set up for both men and women. To promote technical exchange and shared enjoyment among climbing enthusiasts,SALEWA’s young21-year-old big wall climberMichi Wohllebentraveled specially from Germany to perform a first ascent andOn-sightthe preliminary and final routes, personally demonstrating techniques, guiding participants, and sharing his climbing experiences.9On the evening of16, after a series of breathtaking climbs, the women’s professional division champions were awarded to Hu Yue (1st), Jia Siyi (2nd), and Qiao Yaning (3rd), while Wang Xuemei, Sun Tingzhen, Li Fang, Ou Fangxin, Zhang Lili, Shi [surname], and others secured top positions in the women’s open division. The men’s professional division winners included [names], and the men’s open division saw [names] take the top spots. The experience division champions were awarded to Da La, Marie, Cai Keke, Ma Haigang, Sun Jidong, Wang Zijian, Lü Yehui, Hua Lei, Li Ning, and Chen Yongwu.

    The climbing route setup at Tianchi Gorge Station is quite different from that of the previous stop, Jinyuan Yansha.MALL    In addition to natural rock wall climbing—competing with geckos under the blue sky and white clouds—there’s also an artificial climbing wall.SALEWA    Beneath the dazzling starry sky of the Milky Way, a giant Eagle soars across the rock face in sync with the progress of nighttime climbers.Table Boulder    A series of activities such as beer, Western barbecue, outdoor movies, band performances, and lucky draws thrilled the enthusiasts.SALEWA    To complement this climbing festival, two new climbing shoes set to launch next year were tested through public recruitment via the Green Outdoor Network and on-site availability at the festival.SALEWA    On the smooth, large rock faces, the test models’ stable performance earned high praise from participants, with many competitors abandoning their own shoes in favor of the test models during the finals.
