From December 9 to 12, the Outdoor Research 2013 autumn/winter order fair was successfully held in Shenzhen. Dealers from across the country joined OR’s international sales manager Jackton Downard from the headquarters to explore the new season’s autumn/winter products and personally experience OR’s strong product functionality and its commitment to outdoor sports.

Since launching its 3.0 era in 2011, Outdoor Research’s China agent, Shenzhen Himalaya Trading Co., Ltd., has been dedicated to aligning the brand’s development with global standards. Over the past two years, efforts have been made in brand cultivation, marketing activities, and retail experience, achieving quantifiable growth and yielding positive results: more people are getting to know, understand, and become loyal users of OR.

Making every product functional has been OR’s unwavering brand principle since its establishment in the 1980s. Over the past year, OR’s design team has made significant contributions to product innovation. The members of this team, who are both outdoor enthusiasts and skilled outdoor apparel designers, draw inspiration from their own usage experiences and extensive research in areas such as color, style, details, and functionality. These changes began to emerge in the 2013 spring/summer collection.
The 2013 spring/summer products marked a bold transformation for OR with vibrant colors and designs suitable for a wider range of activities, and these trends were further developed and refined in the autumn/winter collection. While maintaining OR’s signature understated and refined vibe, bold flame red, bright sunshine yellow, and resilient fresh green—colors that represent positivity, vibrancy, and quality—were widely incorporated into the product line, adding a touch of fashion. In terms of style, the brand continues to focus on “designing for adventure” as its core concept, further exploring and improving its high-end and technical products to ensure they are both sport-ready and highly comfortable to wear.

Outdoor Research maintains strong and stable collaborations with leading global brands specializing in high-performance and technical fabrics, which form the technological core of OR’s products. In the 2013 autumn/winter line, the Maximus Jacket—crafted with Gore-Tex Pro—was upgraded with a composite structure and details tailored for extreme environments, offering enhanced functional protection for outdoor enthusiasts. In addition to Gore-Tex, OR also worked closely with other premium fabric suppliers such as Polartec, Schoeller, and Pertex in the 2013 autumn/winter collection, further enhancing the functionality of the new products.
Looking back at 2012, the Axiom Jacket, Lodestar Jacket, and Endurance Gaiters won the Outside Magazine 2012 Gear of the Year Award, the APEX Textile Award, and the European Outdoor Industry Design Award, respectively. Products such as the Incandescent Hoody were featured in Backpacker Magazine’s 2012 Autumn/Winter Buying Guide. These accolades not only affirm the industry’s recognition of OR’s functionality but also demonstrate how the brand’s apparel collection better embodies the philosophy of “designed for adventure.”
