On December 18, the 6th Beijing Pinggu International Ice and Snow Festival grandly opened at Yuyang International Ski Resort. The festival will run until February 28, 2013, under the theme “Silver Winter Pinggu, Full of Passion,” and includes over 20 tourism activities such as skiing, admiring chrysanthemums in Pinggu, picking fresh fruits in Pinggu, and tasting Pinggu cuisine. Visitors can not only experience but also actively participate in these events to enjoy the winter charm of Pinggu.

From December 20 to the end of February 2013, Yuyang International Ski Resort will host a series of activities, including a Snow Carnival, ski performance competitions, and couples’ fun skiing contests. The snow family play zone features a large snow sculpture covering over 2,000 square meters, along with a castle slide, snow maze treasure hunt, swings, and seesaws. Visitors can take part in creative snowman building, joyful express rides, and family race games. The ski resort has also invested over 50 million yuan to upgrade ski runs and supporting facilities, and has built a new ski vacation accommodation area and a visitor center where skiing tourists can inquire about travel around Pinggu, as well as submit complaints and suggestions.

According to officials from the Pinggu District Tourism Bureau, the 6th Pinggu International Ski Festival not only offers a variety of skiing activities but also includes a rich array of rural experiences such as enjoying farm life, making dumplings, putting up Spring Festival couplets, setting off firecrackers, tasting thousands of edible chrysanthemums from Xibaidian Village in Daxingzhuang Town, and “escaping the cold” inside the “World’s No. 1 Ancient Karst Cave” at the Eastern Great Canyon.
